ITS (28th Street) is a 2500 square foot facility. ITS (53rd Street) is a 1100 square foot studio. Both of our facilities are private. They house both personal training and physical therapy practice. Our spaces are equipped to handle:

Independent training spot is a training facility complete with a full line of toiletries, private changing rooms, restrooms, showers, treatment tables, towels, and lockers. There is even a gym uniform and sneaker storage rental available at our 28th street location. Independent training spot makes it super easy for clients to just show up from home or work to train with a trainer. We have everything ready for you. We also have water bottles, coffee, and expresso available for purchase.
Rick Richey is the co-owner of Independent Training Spot and owner of ReCOVER NYC. He has worked with numerous film and television personalities, musicians and models, professional athletes, and traditional clients to help reach their goals. Rick is a international fitness presenter, providing evidenced-based education for personal trainers and strength and conditioning coaches to better assess clients, prevent injury, enhance performance, and reach goals for their clientele. Rick is a senior faculty instructor for the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and adjunct faculty at the California University of Pennsylvania: Exercise science and Sports studies undergraduate and graduate programs. He has his undergraduate education from the university of North Alabama, and his Master’s in Exercise Science from California University of Pennsylvania with focus on Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention. Rick is currently a doctoral candidate in the dissertation phase of a health science degree
Marc Miller is the co-owner of Independent Training Spot. For 19 years, he has woken up everyday with the singular goal of bettering his clients and himself through intense focus, commitment and performance. He brings unparalleled passion to the craft and a personalized approach to each client to ensure he has a customized method to meet their goals. You can find him practicing what he preaches in the gym everyday and even training alongside his clients to help push them further. To help those clients really exceed their goals he employs his signature brand of sports psychology and has a no-nonsense attitude about never making excuses or backing down from a challenge. His loyal clientele, who have become a fitness family, appreciate how his tried and true method is not a gimmick or the work of marketing - what you see, is what you get. In addition to the work in the gym, he understands clients cannot always spend every day with him at Independent Training Spot and will provide comprehensive at-home or travel plans based around an integrated fitness program.
Rachel Mariotti is a professional trainer, former gymnast and collegiate track runner, combining functional strength and conditioning into her training.
